Open Flip Image Vertically OnlineVertical vs horizontal flip
A vertical flip mirrors along the horizontal axis: top becomes bottom. A horizontal flip mirrors left/right. The tool provides both — most phone photos use the vertical correction.
Flip in seconds
- Open the Rotate/Flip tool.
- Drop your image.
- Choose the vertical (or horizontal) flip.
- Download the mirrored file.
Flipping is lossless and instant — there is no quality cost.
Design and branding uses
Mirror effects, texture previews and text corrections all use vertical flips. Photographers also flip web textures so seams repeat correctly (though real photos shouldn't be mirrored casually — watch for readable text!).
Vertical flip vs 180 rotation: they are not the same
A vertical flip mirrors the image across the horizontal axis: the top becomes the bottom while left and right stay in place. A 180-degree rotation turns the whole picture around, which also swaps left and right. If text or a recognizable logo is in the frame, only one of the two produces the result you want - flipping upside-down text still leaves every letter reversed, while rotating it restores the reading order.
Typical cases for a true vertical flip are scanned documents that came out the wrong way up, reflections in water you want to position deliberately, and comparison graphics where a mirrored before/after pair reads better than two rotated copies. Check the result once at full size before downloading; mirrored faces are the classic tell that the wrong transform was applied.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does flipping lose quality?
No — flip is a lossless pixel re-map, like rotation.
Should I worry about text in a flipped image?
Yes — flipped text becomes unreadable. Flip only when the mirror is intentional (textures, previews, symmetries).
Can I flip a PNG with transparency?
Yes, transparency is preserved when you download as PNG or WebP.
