Rotate an Image Online (Free)
A sideways photo, a scan that came out upside down, a mirrored selfie — rotating and flipping is one of the fastest image fixes. Our Rotate Image tool handles 90°, 180° and 270° rotation and horizontal or vertical flipping directly in your browser.

Phones embed orientation data that some platforms ignore, leaving photos sideways. A single 90° rotation exports a correctly oriented file every platform reads.
How to rotate an image
- Open the Rotate Image tool.
- Upload your image.
- Click Rotate Left or Rotate Right for 90° steps.
- Flip horizontally or vertically if needed.
- Download the result as PNG.
Preserve quality while rotating
Rotation never re-encodes the pixels you keep, so there is no quality loss. The exported PNG is saved losslessly.
Free rotation and auto-straighten basics
90-degree steps are lossless: the pixels are only rearranged, so rotating twice costs nothing in quality. Angles like 2.5 degrees for a slightly tilted horizon are different - each resample softens edges a little, so straighten once at the final size instead of correcting repeatedly. Our tool rotates and exports in a single pass, so a single correction keeps the image as sharp as the original.
Before exporting, make sure the orientation matches how the file will be read. Photos from phones usually carry an EXIF orientation flag instead of rotated pixels; some form uploads, CMS thumbnails and messaging apps ignore that flag and display the picture on its side. Baking the rotation into the pixels during export removes that entire class of problem.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I rotate by arbitrary angles like 45°?
Not in the free tool — rotation is limited to exact 90° steps plus flips, which covers the vast majority of cases.
Will rotating reduce the image size?
No. It keeps the full resolution and only changes the orientation.
Does it work on PNG and WebP?
Yes, all common formats are supported and transparency is preserved.
