Prep a listing photo

Etsy displays listing photos in a square-ish frame on category and search pages, then lets buyers swipe through ten images on the product page. The first photo is the only one that appears in search results, so it must read at thumbnail size: one product, plain background, no text crowding the edges. The recommended upload is 2000x2000 pixels or larger, which Etsy downscales - uploading small and hoping for the best is the most common cause of blurry listings.

Beyond the hero shot, plan the rest of the ten slots as a story: detail close-ups, scale reference (a hand, a coin, a room), packaging, and a lifestyle shot in context. Resize each export to the same square dimensions so the grid stays aligned instead of jumping between crops. Keep each file under the upload cap and use JPG for photographs - PNG only when the listing needs transparency, since Etsy recompresses everything anyway.
