Resize Images for Amazon (Free Preset)

Amazon warns or suppresses listings whose main images are too small: they must have a longest side of at least 1000px to enable zoom, and sellers usually upload at 1600–2000px. Our Resize Image tool applies the right dimensions instantly, in your browser.

The Amazon image rules that cost sales

  1. - Longest side: at least 1000px (zoom requires it; use 1600–2000px to be safe).
  2. - Main image: pure white background only.
  3. - Ratio: square (1:1) is standard; taller images are cropped or rejected.

Secondary images can show context — lifestyle, size charts, details — and are not restricted to white backgrounds.

How to resize for Amazon

  1. Open the Resize Image tool.
  2. Upload your product photo.
  3. Select the Amazon preset or set the longest side to 1600px.
  4. Download and upload to Seller Central.

Keep the square ratio for the main image — Amazon crops non-square mains and the visible result may lose part of your product.

Pair it with background removal

Amazon's main image must be pure white, not transparent. Remove the background with the Remove Background tool, then export your product onto a white canvas at 1600×1600 before uploading.

Amazon's photo rules and the zoom requirement

Amazon enforces two numbers that matter: 1000x1000 pixels minimum on the longest side to enable the zoom feature (the single most conversion-relevant image behavior on the listing), and 1600px or larger for the zoom to feel crisp rather than pixelated. Square is the canvas; the product should fill roughly 85% of it with white space around the edges per the image style requirements.

Beyond the hero shot, Amazon accepts up to 9 images plus a video: alternate angles, scale in context, detail close-ups, and an infographic carrying dimensions - each one exported at the same 1:1 ratio so the gallery carousel stays visually stable. Keep every image under 10MB (the upload cap) and use sRGB color, which is what browsers and the marketplace pipeline assume; wide-gamut exports shift colors on most shoppers' screens. JPG at 90-95% quality, 2000x2000, lands around 400-800KB: safely under the cap, sharp enough for zoom.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size should my Amazon main image be?

Square (1:1) with a longest side of at least 1000px; recommended upload at 1600–2000px for crisp zoom. White background only.

Why does Amazon reject or blur my image?

Usually: below 1000px on the longest side, non-white main background, or heavy JPG compression. Resize to 1600px+ and re-export at quality 85%+.

Does resizing break my transparency?

No, but Amazon's main image needs a white background anyway. Use the Remove Background tool, then place the PNG on white and resize.
