When you need transparency, not white

Logos, product photos, invitations, PDF watermarks and website assets are almost always exported with transparency. Keeping a white background forces designs to match that box; transparency lets you place the image anywhere.

Steps to remove a white background

1. Open Remove Background.
2. Drop in your image.
3. Click Remove Background.
4. Download the transparent PNG.

Discolored paper marks darker than pure white are handled automatically by the AI — you do not need to pre-clean the scan.

Output quality

The result exports as PNG to preserve precise alpha. Hair, fur and semi-transparent shadows keep their soft edges instead of turning into hard silhouettes.

White background vs true transparency

An image can look transparent on a white website and still contain a solid white rectangle - the two only diverge the moment you place it on a colored or textured surface. True transparency means an alpha channel where the removed pixels are empty; a white background is just white pixels. If your file will ever sit on a dark hero section, a marketplace template or a video overlay, only the alpha channel version works.

After removal, inspect the edges where the problem hides: hair, glass, white product edges and anti-aliased outlines. A white object cut from a white background often loses its border entirely, which is why the preview step matters before downloading. PNG is the output format because it is the only broadly supported one that carries transparency; WebP also supports alpha if you need a smaller file for the web.
